Recovery after a stroke often continues long after leaving the hospital. Outpatient physical therapy supports the next steps toward moving and living more independently.

Understanding It
A stroke can affect strength, coordination, sensation, and balance — often more on one side of the body. These changes can make walking, getting up from a chair, or using an arm and hand more difficult.
Outpatient stroke rehabilitation focuses on repeated, meaningful practice of the movements and tasks that matter to you, alongside strengthening and balance work, to support ongoing recovery.
Symptoms & Challenges
Everyone's experience is different. These are common reasons people reach out — your evaluation focuses on what applies to you.
How PT May Help
Repeated, structured practice of real-life movements like standing, walking, and reaching.
Exercises that target weakness and help both sides of the body work together.
Progressive balance challenges and gait training to support safer movement.
Clear instructions for continuing exercises at home, with caregivers included when helpful.
Your evaluation reviews your medical history and recovery so far, then assesses strength, sensation, coordination, balance, walking, and the daily tasks that are hardest for you.
As a physical therapist-owned practice, every visit is one-on-one for 45–60 minutes. Your plan is built around your evaluation and goals, and adjusted as you progress. Results vary from person to person, and we will be honest with you about what to expect.
Your Appointment
Bring any discharge paperwork or notes from your hospital or prior therapy, a list of medications, and any walking aid or brace you use. A family member or caregiver is welcome to join.
We start by listening — your history, what has changed, and what you want to be able to do again.
Your physical therapist assesses strength, balance, walking, and movement, explaining what each test shows.
You leave with clear findings, an individualized plan of care, and a few safe exercises to begin at home.
