How you walk affects how far you can go, how tired you feel, and how steady you are. Gait training looks closely at your steps and helps you move with more ease.

Understanding It
Gait is the way you walk — your step length, speed, rhythm, and how your body shifts weight from one leg to the other. Changes in gait can come from weakness, stiffness, pain, nerve or neurological conditions, or simply being less active for a while.
Physical therapy identifies what is changing in your walking pattern and why, then uses targeted exercise and practice to help you walk more safely and efficiently.
Symptoms & Challenges
Everyone's experience is different. These are common reasons people reach out — your evaluation focuses on what applies to you.
How PT May Help
A careful look at how you step, turn, and shift weight to find what is affecting your walking.
Building the hip, ankle, and core strength that supports each step.
Guided practice with cues for step length, posture, and rhythm, including turns and obstacles.
Help deciding whether a walking aid makes sense and how to use it correctly.
Your evaluation looks at your walking pattern, speed, endurance, strength, joint mobility, and balance, and how these connect to the activities you want to get back to.
As a physical therapist-owned practice, every visit is one-on-one for 45–60 minutes. Your plan is built around your evaluation and goals, and adjusted as you progress. Results vary from person to person, and we will be honest with you about what to expect.
Your Appointment
Wear comfortable clothes and the shoes you walk in most often. If you use a cane or walker, bring it with you.
We start by listening — your history, what has changed, and what you want to be able to do again.
Your physical therapist assesses strength, balance, walking, and movement, explaining what each test shows.
You leave with clear findings, an individualized plan of care, and a few safe exercises to begin at home.
